THE 1ST ANNUAL “GROW YOUR OWN FOOD EXPO” WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE BARKER HANGAR IN SANTA MONICA, CA.

A Kitchen gardening and urban farming revolution is taking Southern California by storm. Look at this picture: those two beautiful women are part of a whole new breed of growers, ready to grow vegetable gardens not only in backyards but rooftops, old basketball courts, and community gardens.

The 1st annual GROW YOUR OWN FOOD EXPO is the first Los Angeles based public exhibition dedicated to kitchen gardening and urban farming for existing and would-be producers, customers, eaters, and organic food enthusiasts.

Meant to become a local annual event, the Expo will bring together more than 100 companies who will present a diverse array of innovative solutions, materials, and equipment to produce food at home and in community gardens.

GROW YOUR OWN FOOD EXPO will also deliver sharp educational content and engaging entertainment that will draw Angelenos closer to kitchen gardening and urban farming. The program will include over 20 educational panel discussions addressing the challenges and benefits of homegrown food consumption, production, and distribution in Los Angeles. GROW YOUR OWN FOOD EXPO creates a venue for passionate chefs and restaurants to champion their local organic philosophies and share their culinary expertise to the community.

Many Angelenos share a passion for food, want their kids to feel the joy of fresh-picked fruits and vegetables, and love to shop at their local Farmer’s Markets every week, but they also believe that providing locally grown food to schools, community centers and people in need is important . GROW YOUR OWN FOOD EXPO is proud to support “St. Vincent Meals on Wheels” (the largest privately funded “Meals on Wheels” program in America), an extraordinary program that has been preparing and delivering nutritious meals to homebound seniors and other vulnerable residents across Los Angeles for more than 30 years.

For 3 days, the visitors of the GROW YOUR OWN FOOD EXPO will learn, share, test, eat, and donate.
